Renderding by Scenic Designer: Sebastian Zavalza (SebastianZavalza.com)
This production had 3D bricks in its scenic design - after creating some samples from MDF, our designer wanted a more “perfect” looking brick rather than a weathered, organic brick. Our technical designers spent much of their time designing and toolpathing this brick that was cut on a CNC router, then sent to paints for a multi-layer paint treatment. Above: Technical Design by Nick Wylie - Vinyl Floor Tile, cut and adhered to MDF for a quicker load in
Above: Technical Design by Tane Muller - Gas Station Unit: a tracking unit that hid offstage right, covered in CNC brick with integrated LED strips, acrylic, and set dressing
This production had 3D cinder block, similar to the brick, we created a sample to be toolpathed, cut on the CNC router from MDF, and sent to paints. The cinder block covered all of the interior walls of this set.
